“They’re coming along within the offense,” Caldwell said. “‘Stoke’ is learning his position. He’s one of those guys who’s been around the league awhile … Dallas is also learning. He’s getting a good feel for what we do. We’ve immersed him in it and tried to get as much out of him as we possibly can.”
In his preseason debut with the Baltimore Ravens Jerseys last week, Stokley was in on three pass plays and did not have any targets. The Ravens used him in the slot, which is where he’s worked throughout his 14-year career.
Clark, a 10-year veteran, is known as a pass-catching tight end who can also work the middle of the field. He has taken practice reps as an in-line tight end, and also lined up in the slot at times.
Both of them have long tenured careers in the NFL, but joining a team this late in training camp is still a challenge to quickly assimilate into the offense. They have spent extra time working with Flacco, and leaned on their coaches to get them up to speed.
“It just takes work,” Caldwell said. “I think you see [Flacco] out there early throwing to Dallas, working with him on some different routes and things of that nature. He does the same thing with Stokley. Every time they pop up in one-on-ones you see him move over and take a couple of extra throws.”
